Sustainability in Conservation Practice

As custodians of cultural heritage, it is our responsibility to ensure the preservation of these invaluable treasures for future generations. Sustainability in conservation is not merely a choice but a necessity, driven by the urgent need to mitigate the impact of human activities on our planet.

The significance of sustainable conservation practice lies in its ability to safeguard our cultural heritage and the environment. By adopting sustainable methods such as materials, techniques, and management strategies. Utilizing renewable energy sources, employing eco-friendly materials, and implementing efficient waste management systems.

We contribute to reducing the carbon footprint in a laboratory environment with a combination of strategies aimed at minimizing energy consumption, optimizing resource utilization, and promoting sustainable practices.

For us, sustainable conservation also means to promote social equity by fostering community engagement and empowering local artisans and craftsmen.

As we are working to create a sustainable exhibition, we would like to ask you to consider using sustainable travel options to get here, such as walking, cycling, or using the local bus and train services.

The train station is an approximately 10 minute walk away from the labs and for information about bus routes, please visit https://lincolnbus.co.uk/.

There are also plenty of spaces to park a bicycle outside the the Peter de Wint building, although please bring your own bike lock and understand that we are not responsible for your bicycle while it is on campus.

Thank you for helping us be more sustainable!
